Rule reminder
Cleft sentences are used for EMPHASIS and CONTRAST — they highlight one element as new, corrective, or contrastive information. They are NOT neutral descriptions. Use a cleft when: (1) correcting wrong information, (2) answering 'who/what/when/where' questions with strong emphasis, (3) contrasting two elements. Avoid clefts in neutral narration, simple descriptions, or when no element needs special focus.
Context: Someone wrongly says you went to Paris last summer. You correct them. Which response is most appropriate?
