Rule reminder

In formal written Italian, congiuntivo use is more widespread than in speech. It appears after verbs of reporting (riferire che, sostenere che, ritenere che), in official documents (si richiede che, si dispone che), and in academic writing (è ipotizzabile che, si presuppone che). The tense sequence applies strictly in formal register.
