(2) REFERENCE to previous arguments: 'tale argomentazione', 'questa posizione', 'il suddetto problema'. (3) METALINGUISTIC MARKERS: 'come si è visto', 'si consideri che', 'vale la pena sottolineare'. (4) LEXICAL COHESION through the repetition of key argumentative terms. Without these devices, arguments appear as disconnected points rather than a unified case.
