Textual Cohesion — Coesione Testuale·Cohesion Errors
💡

Rule reminder

Cohesion ERRORS occur when the devices meant to link sentences fail or mislead the reader. Common errors: (1) AMBIGUOUS REFERENCE — a pronoun that could refer to more than one noun. (2) BROKEN REFERENCE CHAIN — pronoun used before the noun is introduced. (3) INCONSISTENT LEXICAL CHAIN — sudden change in semantic field without transition. (4) OVERUSE OF PRONOUNS — so many pronouns that tracking becomes impossible. (5) MISMATCHED ELLIPSIS — omitting something that cannot be recovered.
