Rule reminder
Use a subordinate clause (con 'mentre', 'poiché', 'sebbene', 'dopo che', 'se') when subjects differ or when the gerund would be ambiguous. Use the gerund for conciseness when subjects are the same.
'While she was cooking, the children were playing in the garden.' Which is correct?
