Master both patterns completely: P1 (no -isc- ever): dormire, partire, sentire, aprire. P2 (-isc- in io/tu/lui-lei/loro, NOT in noi/voi): capire, finire, preferire, pulire, costruire, guarire.
In one sentence: 'My colleagues work hard, they understand the project and they finish on time.'
