Simple Prepositions·'a' and 'in' with Articles — Contracted Forms
💡

Rule reminder

When 'a' or 'in' are followed by a definite article, they contract: a + il = al, a + la = alla, in + il = nel, in + la = nella, etc. Without an article (countries, fixed expressions), no contraction occurs.
