Italian word

agitato

agitated, restless, worked up, flustered

Looks like

agitated

troubled, nervous, stirred up

⚠️ The trap

Very close in meaning. However, Italian 'agitato' is used far more casually in everyday speech than English 'agitated'. Italians say 'sono agitato' where English speakers might say 'I'm nervous' or 'I'm flustered'.

To say "troubled, nervous, stirred up" in Italian:

agitato (true cognate, but collocations differ)

"agitato" in English means:

agitated, restless, worked up, flustered

Example

"Perché sei così agitato? Calmati un po'."

"Why are you so worked up? Calm down a bit."
