Italian word

graduato

graduated, ranked; a non-commissioned officer

Looks like

graduate

a person who has completed a degree

⚠️ The trap

A university graduate in Italian is 'laureato', not 'graduato'. 'Graduato' refers to military rank or graduated measurement scales. Saying 'sono graduato' does NOT mean you have a degree.

To say "a person who has completed a degree" in Italian:

laureato (for university graduate); graduato for military rank

"graduato" in English means:

graduated, ranked; a non-commissioned officer

Example

"È un graduato dell'esercito italiano."

"He is a non-commissioned officer in the Italian army."
