Evacuate the building immediately!
'Evacuate' = eh-va-koo-A-teh. Stress on third syllable. Imperative plural directed at a group.
Directing people to leave a building during fire, gas leak, structural risk or threat.
'Evacuate' is the imperative plural (voi) of 'evacuare' (to evacuate). 'Immediatamente' (immediately) adds urgency. In Italian emergency protocol, the building warden (addetto all'emergenza) is responsible for ordering and coordinating evacuation. Evacuation routes must be clearly marked in all public buildings under Italian fire prevention law (D.Lgs. 81/2008).
Uscite dalle uscite di emergenza!
Exit through the emergency exits!
Direct people to the correct exits — critical for safe evacuation.
Non usate gli ascensori durante l'evacuazione!
Do not use the lifts during evacuation!
Standard safety rule — lifts can trap people during fires.
Raccoglietevi al punto di raccolta fuori dal palazzo.
Gather at the assembly point outside the building.
'Punto di raccolta' = designated muster point, marked on evacuation maps.
Italian workplace safety law (D.Lgs. 81/2008, the 'Testo Unico sulla Sicurezza') requires all workplaces to have emergency plans, designated wardens (addetti all'emergenza e all'evacuazione), fire exit signage, and regular drills (prove di evacuazione). Failure to comply can result in significant fines and criminal liability for the employer.
