Cultural Note

Gianni Rodari (1920–1980) is Italy's most celebrated children's author — his 'Favole al telefono' and 'Grammatica della Fantasia' are considered classics. He won the Hans Christian Andersen Award in 1970. Italian children's publishing is vibrant, with Bologna hosting the world's most important children's book fair ('Fiera del Libro per Ragazzi') each April.
