Rule reminder
Italian registers differ significantly: journalistic register uses brief sentences, nominalization, attribution, and emotional vocabulary; academic register uses long subordinate clauses, Latin/Greek terminology, hedged claims ('si potrebbe ipotizzare'); formal letter register uses fixed openings/closings (Egregio, Distinti saluti); spoken Italian uses fillers, ellipsis, and colloquial vocabulary (tipo, roba, un sacco di).
A formal letter to a newspaper editor begins: 'Egregio Direttore, con la presente mi permetto di segnalare un'imprecisione nell'articolo pubblicato in data odierna.' What formal letter conventions are present?
