Rule reminder

In formal written Italian (newspapers, essays, official documents), the rule of thumb is: replace 'che' with 'il quale/la quale' in long sentences; replace 'prep + cui' with 'prep + il quale' when the antecedent is unambiguous; always use 'il cui/la cui' for possession. Use 'in cui' for time and place unless 'nel quale' is clearly more precise.
